1. Scope and data controller
This Policy applies to the official Gamtropy website, Games published or provided by Gamtropy Co., Ltd. (遊戲熵股份有限公司, “Gamtropy,” “we,” or “us”), and related support and data processing.
External stores, game platforms, social networks, and other third-party services process data under their own privacy policies. We collect, process, and use personal data only as necessary to provide our services and comply with applicable law.
2. Categories of data collected
- Website connection and security data, including IP address, browser or device type, request time, and technical records needed to operate and protect the website.
- Consent preferences, including whether a choice has been made and whether website analytics or third-party media is enabled. These preferences remain in the user’s browser.
- Website usage data. After the user consents to analytics, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) records page views, game selection, outbound store links, contact type, language changes, and video load requests. Events do not include email addresses, free-form text, or complete external URLs.
- Third-party video data. After the user consents to third-party media, the website loads a privacy-enhanced player from youtube-nocookie.com. Google or YouTube may process device, network, and player interaction data.
- Contact data, including the sender address, message, attachments, and mail service records when a user voluntarily emails us.
- Game crash records collected through Google Analytics or GameAnalytics, together with the game version, operating system, device, and error information needed to diagnose the crash.
- Game account and save data. Mobile Games may use Play Games or Game Center accounts, and Steam Games may use Azure PlayFab accounts. Games with cloud saves process account identifiers, game progress, and settings.
- Player submissions and reports in Couch Detective, including submitted content, identifiers needed for the submission, and report records.
- Advertising data in Desertopia and Subscribe to My Adventure, which use Unity Ads or Google AdMob. Subject to the user’s choices and provider policies, these services may process device information, advertising identifiers, IP address, and ad interactions.
3. Purposes of processing
- Provide, maintain, and protect the website and Games.
- Remember user choices and enable website analytics, third-party media, or advertising accordingly.
- Diagnose crashes, correct errors, and maintain service quality.
- Provide platform account linking, cloud saves, multiplayer features, player submissions, reports, and other Game functions.
- Respond to support, privacy, legal, business, or media inquiries.
- Perform contracts, comply with platform rules and legal obligations, and protect the lawful rights of Gamtropy, users, and third parties.
4. Sources, methods, and effect of not providing data
We obtain data directly from users, from technical records generated when the website or a Game operates, and from platforms or services selected by the user. We process data by automated or non-automated means and use it only for the purposes stated above.
Website analytics and third-party video are optional. Refusing or withdrawing consent does not prevent access to the main website content. We cannot respond to an inquiry if the user does not provide the email content needed for a response. A Game feature may be unavailable where the user does not provide data required for an account, cloud save, multiplayer, submission, or advertising function.
5. Retention and deletion
- Consent preferences remain in the user’s browser until changed, cleared, or removed by the browser.
- GA4 user-level and event-level retention is set to 14 months, with “Reset user data on new activity” enabled. Aggregated reports are not subject to that retention setting.
- Email and attachments concerning a specific Game are deleted after that Game ceases operation. Other support, legal, business, or media correspondence is deleted when the case is closed. Data remains longer only where required by law or necessary to resolve a dispute.
- Game crash records, PlayFab player data, and cloud saves are deleted after the relevant Game ceases operation.
- A Couch Detective contributor may delete a submission in the Game. We may remove a submission following a report. When the related service ends, submissions and report records are deleted unless retention is legally required.
- Firebase Hosting, YouTube, advertising, and other service providers retain technical records for the periods required to provide their services and under their policies.
6. Regions, recipients, and international transfers
Data may be used where Gamtropy operates, where a user is located, and where a contracted provider maintains systems or processes data. Recipients are limited to Gamtropy personnel who require access, lawful authorities, and service providers used for the following functions.
- Google services, including Firebase Hosting, Google Analytics, YouTube, Gmail, Google Play, and Google AdMob.
- Apple services, including the App Store and Game Center.
- Microsoft Azure PlayFab.
- Unity Ads.
- GameAnalytics crash analysis services.
- Steam, Nintendo, and other distribution platforms selected by the user.
7. Data subject rights
Subject to applicable law, a user may request access to or a copy of personal data, correction or supplementation, cessation of collection, processing, or use, and deletion. Submit a request to support@gamtropy.com. We may request reasonable proof of identity before acting on a request.
We respond within the period required by applicable law. Where the law permits us to deny or limit a request, or charge necessary costs, we will explain the reason and procedure. Requests concerning data controlled by a third-party platform must also be submitted to that platform.
8. Website consent choices
Website analytics and third-party media are off by default. Use “Privacy settings” in the footer to change these choices. Withdrawal stops future loading and does not affect processing lawfully completed before withdrawal. Users may also clear this site’s localStorage and cookies through their browser.
9. Minors
The website and Games are not primarily directed to children or minors. Before a minor uses a service or provides personal data, a parent or legal guardian should review this Policy and provide any consent or assistance required by local law. Each Game remains subject to platform age ratings and child protection requirements.
10. Security and changes to this Policy
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, damage, loss, or disclosure. Internet transmission and storage involve inherent risks, and users should protect their devices and platform accounts.
If our services, data practices, or legal obligations change, we will publish the revised Policy and effective date on the website. We will provide separate notice or obtain consent where required by law.
